We have an exciting opportunity for a an experienced BNG Ecologist / Senior to join a fantastic community interest company in South Yorkshire, expanding their BNG services and reinvesting all profits into the protection and improvement of wildlife, nature and green spaces.
About the job:
You'll be joining a small, friendly, collaborative team who are motivated by nature and proud of their approachable and positive working environment.
You'll work on a hybrid basis, with roughly 2 days a week in the Sheffield office alongside home working and site-based work. This is a permanent role and can be offered as full-time (37.5 hours) or part-time (30+ hours), with flexible working considered.
Working with the BNG and Ecology team, you'll be delivering on and driving forward the organisation's BNG services. You'll get to work on some unique and interesting projects, and play a vital part in future plans for land purchase/ownership and habitat bank creation.
Your role will include:
Conducting BNG assessments and ecological surveys on both offsetting sites and development sites
Carrying out BNG metric calculations and preparing BNG reports
Developing BNG plans and strategies for a wide range of projects
Collaborating with project teams, clients and stakeholders to develop the most effective plans
Developing Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans
Undertaking BNG fieldwork, including site surveys and monitoring
Offering support on land management advice and habitat restoration advice
Salary & benefits:
Salary for this role is around £32,200 FTE. Benefits include:
23 days annual leave rising to 28 over 5 years

About you:
To apply for this role you will need:
3-4+ years Ecology experience across a broad range of habitats and protected species
2+ years BNG experience, including uplift and mitigation design and use of UKHabs
Relevant degree-level qualification
Experience in GIS and client/landowner liaison
Excellent knowledge of habitats and species; BNG drivers and legislation; and conservation land management techniques
