Principal / Associate Ecologist (Critical Infrastructure)

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 / 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 (or ambitious Senior!)
𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: London, Ipswich or Basingstoke - Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)
𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲: £50,000 - £85,000 DOE + benefits

We're looking for a 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, within a growing consultancy delivering survey and design services to some of the UK’s most 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 - from rail and nuclear to data centres, utilities and transport.

You’ll sit just below the Environmental Director, meaning strong senior support, but without being micromanaged. You’ll have the space to shape the ecology offering, influence direction, and take ownership, while knowing there’s experience and support there when you need it.

→ You’ll be hands-on in 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 - recruiting, shaping roles, and creating a culture that works
→ You’ll play a key role in 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 as workload and opportunity grow
→ You’ll work on 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞-𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬, where good ecological leadership really matters
→ You’ll have the chance to 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤-𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬, with training and mentoring offered where needed

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮:
- Have substantial consultancy experience (8+ years), ideally with a strong grounding in rail and/or large infrastructure projects
- Enjoy thinking beyond your own projects and want a role with strategic influence
- Are looking for more autonomy, visibility and impact
- Want exposure to commercial and business-development aspects of consultancy, without being thrown in at the deep end OR if you've already honed these skills and are ready to hit the ground running with them!
