About the Role
We're seeking a Principal Ecologist to lead the North West team of a growing consultancy near Manchester.
About the role:
You'll be joining a sustainability and environmental management consultancy, managing and growing a small team of Ecologists undertaking a wide range of ecological surveys (UK Habs, NVC, BBS, GCN, BNG, bats) and impact assessments, across a range of sectors including including public sector, infrastructure research, and estate management.
You'll be responsible for managing a wide variety of projects, as well as costing and tendering for work, and helping to shape the future of both the company and your own career.
Ideally you'll be based within a commutable distance to Stockport and willing to be office based 2-3 days a week, however this is flexible and open to discussion.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary in region of £44,000 - £54,000
33 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
Up to 3 paid volunteer days per year

About you:
To apply for this role you will need a minimum of 5+ years (post-qualifying) experience in a UK Ecology consultancy, with relevant degree-level qualification and appropriate professional membership.
Team management experience would be an advantage but not essential - what matters is your desire and ability to lead, support and inspire your junior colleagues.
You'll need an excellent understanding of environmental impact and legislation, as well as project management experience and strong commercial awareness.
You'll also need at least one protected species licence, a full UK driving licence, and the right to live and work in the UK.
